A sectoral privacy directive for countries in the European Union that focus on privacy for digital technology. One important rule is that websites have to ask permission before putting special files called “cookies” on your computer if those cookies are used for marketing. The EU is thinking about making changes to these rules. The EU is currently considering reform of the ePrivacy Directive.
