Term: Opt-out
Opt-out refers to the ability of a person to decline to receive marketing messages from a business.
What does opt-out mean?
In short, opting out means withdrawing consent to receive marketing emails from a company. It is popular in the U.S.A. because customers and users are able to receive email without opting-in. At all times, users should have the option of opting-out. This is often a pre-ticked box in an online form that an individual would need to untick in order not to receive marketing messages. Relying on this option for marketing activities is restricted in many countries.
