The EU-US Privacy Shield was an agreement between the European Union and the United States to protect the privacy of personal data when it is transferred from the EU to the US. Companies in the US who wanted to receive personal data from the EU had to agree to follow certain rules to ensure that the data was protected. However, the Privacy Shield was invalidated in 2020.
